Capital Medical Center announces 2012 Board of Trustees
January 31, 2012Capital Medical Center is pleased to announce their 2012 Board of Trustees. The hospital is currently represented by a twelve member, voluntary board comprised of community members, physicians, and the hospital CEO. The hospital’s board members serve a critical role in oversight of and providing direction to improving quality of care and patient safety.
New to the hospital’s board in 2012 are:
Gregary Blackner, M.D.
Dr. Blackner is a private practice physician at Black Hills Family Medicine in the Black Hills Medical Park on Olympia’s Westside.
Doug Mah
Mr. Mah most recently served as Olympia’s Mayor (2007-2011) and on Olympia’s City Council (2001-2007). He currently works in the State Office of the Chief Information Officer.
Kevin Traff
Mr. Traff is Vice President of Operations and Finance at Angela J. Bowen & Associates, LLC.
Continuing their terms on the hospital’s board in 2012 are:
- Kevin Ekar – Chair
Mr. Ekar is the Senior Vice President, Business Banking for Heritage Bank and has served on the board since 1992. He has served in both the chair and vice chair positions.
- Stephen Daniels-Brown – Vice Chair
Mr. Daniels-Brown is the founder of Daniels-Brown Communications, an advertising, design, and public affairs firm. He joined the board at Capital Medical Center in 2009.
- Clyde Carpenter, M.D.
Dr. Carpenter joined Olympia Orthopaedic Associates in 1997 and began the Spine Surgery Program at Capital Medical Center.
- David Deitz, M.D.
Dr. Deitz is board certified in general and vascular surgery. He has practiced medicine in Olympia since 1988 and is a co-founding partner of South Sound Surgical Associates.
- Robert Hipp, M.D.
Dr. Hipp has practiced medicine in Olympia since 1973 and has been a partner at South Sound Surgical Associates since 1997. He also serves as chair of Capital Medical Center’s Physician Leadership Group.
- Debra Johnson, M.D., Chief of Staff
Dr. Johnson has been on the medical staff at Capital Medical Center for 12 years as a physician partner at South Sound Women’s Center. Her specialty is obstetrics and gynecology.
- Jim Morris
Mr. Morris is a managing member of MPH Holdings, LLC, which manages 200,000 square foot portfolio of public and private commercial office and retail space. He also operates J A Morris Construction, LLC, an in-house commercial construction company.
- Thomas O’Meara, M.D.
Dr. O’Meara is a gastroenterologist with Olympia Multi-Specialty Clinic on Olympia’s Westside.
- Joseph Sharp
Former CEO at Capital Medical Center from 1998-2006, Mr. Sharp joined the board in 2010.
- Jim Geist, CEO
Geist joined Capital Medical Center in May 2010 as chief operating officer. He became chief executive officer in August 2010.
